APDA (Art, Photography and Digital Arts) Kyoto Award is a newly launched award in Kyoto by East West Artlink in addition to the popular EWAAC London. APDA is mainly for photography and digital arts but fine art will also be welcomed. APDA is open to both established and emerging artists and photographers and is not a competition but a selection for the highest quality of works which will be appreciated and showcased in Kyoto, Japan every year. 
No entry fees for the 1st APDA Kyoto 2017 as special offer.
We have the following categories for entry. Note that we will support shipping for photography and digital art categories.
1) Art (2D, 3D): Shipping not supported but welcome to enter.
2) Photography : You do not have to pay shipping costs.
3) Digital photography (with any retouches): You do not have to pay shipping costs.
4) Digital Arts: You do not have to pay shipping costs. For all categories, there is an exhibition fee of £50 if the work is selected and the selected artists are responsible for preparing their works to exhibit at APDA Kyoto 2017.

  • Grand Prize (1) : Automatic selection for our Artist in Residence programme (AIR) in Kyoto 2018 where you can stay in Kyoto for two weeks free of charge and enjoy many workshops we organize. The selected work will also be exhibited at APDA Kyoto 2017 and 2018.  A return air ticket from UK to Kyoto to join the AIR 2018 is included. Free premium membership for 1 year.

  • APDA Prize (7) : Entitled to exhibiting their selected work(s) at APDA Kyoto 2017. Free premium membership for 1 year.

  • Call for entries: 12 January - 12 March 2017
  • Entry deadline: 12 March (23.59GMT) 2017
  • Announcement of the selection: 15 March
  • APDA Kyoto Award exhibition: 2-6 April in Kyoto

Fees for this special launch event

  • No entry fees for all categories.
  • No shipping costs for photography and dijital arts.
  • Only if selected to exhibit, £50 exhibition fee will be required.
  • Selected artists are responsible for preparing their works to exhibit

  1. Download entry form and fill in and attach images of entry works (up to three works) and send to our email.
  2. Each images must be in JPEG, 72 dpi resolution and shortest dimention should be 800 pixels minimum and file size is within 0.5 MB for online selection purpose.
  3. Once selected we will inform you immediately together with instruction 'What to do next' so please follow it.
  4. It is up to you if you wish to come to APDA Kyoto exhibition which will be held jointly with EWAEE in Kyoto in April.
  5. We will take photos of all exhibits and exhibition scenes and send them to exhibitors.

  • Old work which was produced within  last three years will be eiigible but if received any prizes in the past is not eligible. 
  • No theme for the work for this special launch APDA 2017.
  • You must have copyright for all your entry works.
  • Maximum size of 2D work should be within 120 x 120 cm
  • Maximum size of 3D work should be with in 30 x 30 x 30 cm.
  • we recommend all selected exhibitors should take insurance to cover for any damage or loss of their works as we will not take any responsibility during / befiore / after the exhibition.
  • Exhibitors can sell works at the exhibition and also no need to sell if they wish to keep it.
